Wales is home to 3,600 companies working in the process and manufacturing sector, employing 28,000 individuals. Wales accounts for 3% of the total workforce working in the sector. All of the 8 industries are represented in Wales, with the Extractive and Mineral Processing, Furniture, Furnishings & Interiors, Glass & Related Companies and Print and Printing Packaging industries having the largest representation.

The Welsh Assembly’s national economic development strategy, “A Winning Wales” is a ten-year strategy to increase prosperity in Wales and to ensure that it is evenly spread and sustainable whilst “Skills that Work for Wales” outlines its plans in relation to the skills and education agenda.

These strategies are an integral part of the Proskills strategy for Wales.
